PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell to Johnson & Wales (RI) 5-0 in non-conference action Wednesday evening at Lynch Arena.

Sophomore Casey Chodkowski (Somerset, Mass.) potted a pair of third period goals while classmate Alexis Harle (Calgary, Alberta) assisted on two others to move the Wildcats to 6-9-0 on the season.

JWU opened the scoring at 11:21 of the first period with a power play goal by sophomore Caitlin Sweet (Calgary, Alberta). Sweet put back the rebound of a shot by Harle in the front of the net for her first goal of the season.

The Wildcats added a goal in the second period before scoring three more in the third period to finish the job.

The Bison were outshot 36-14 for the game and were led by sophomores
Jensen Wurm (Arvada, Colo.) and
MacKenzie Lyons (Scottsdale, Ariz.) with three shots while senior
Samantha DiReda (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had two shots.

Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) made 31 saves in the loss while freshman Julia Aberg (Stockholm, Sweden) stopped all 14 shots she faced to pick up the shutout win.

This was the second meeting all-time between the Bison and the Wildcats in which they have now split the series.
