Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Bison win third straight with 5-3 win over Mass. Maritime

DUDLEY, Mass. – Five different Bison scored goals as the Nichols College men's soccer team defeated Mass. Maritime 5-3 in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at the Nichols Soccer Field.
 
Sophomores Gregory Giglio (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Zachary Lemire (Lowell, Mass.) along with seniors David Melanson (Simsbury, Conn.) and Ryan Banker (Ashaway, R.I.) and freshman Chris Noga (Belchertown, Mass.) each scored goals in the game for the Bison.
 
The Bison – coming off a game in which they scored four goals in the first 12 minutes of the game against Becker – rattled off four goals between the 23rd minute and 30th minute to take a 4-0 lead.
 
The Buccaneers cut the lead in half for the Bison with the first two goals of the second half. Sophomore William Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) potted his second goal of the season at 47:53 to put MMA on the board before senior Thomas McCarthy (Tybee Island, Ga.) scored his first of two goals exactly 10 minutes later to make the score 4-2.
 
Banker capped off the scoring for Nichols in the 83rd minute on a pass from junior Zach Pina (North Attleboro, Mass.). Banker also had an assist in the game on Noga's goal in the first half.
 
Sophomore Cole Houghton (Gorham, Maine) and freshman Brian Czuba (Franklin, Mass.) added assists in the game as well.
 
Sophomore Patrick Porpora (Westminster, Mass.) earned his second win of the year after recording no saves and allowing no goals in the first half before giving way to freshman Zach Suhoza (Clearwater, Fla.) who made three stops over the final half. Sophomore Connor Murphy (Mashpee, Mass.) made four saves in the loss.
 
All-Time Series
The Bison have now won the last three meetings with the Buccaneers and improve their lead in the all-time series to 14-8-4.
