Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Bison fall in Florida to No. 19 Keene State, 14-10

DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Nichols College men's lacrosse team fell 14-10 to No. 19 Keene State in non-conference action at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Florida.

Senior Anthony Verville (Portland, Maine) potted four goals while taking a game-high 11 shots to lead the Bison. Junior Tyler Sikich (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) and sophomore Jack Zaremski (Dorchester, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals while senior captain Brian Hancock (Groton, Mass.) assisted on two goals.

Junior Tyler Reilly (Grafton, Mass.) scored three goals and assisted on three others to pace the Owls. Senior Tyler McKelvie (Acton, Mass.) led the team with four goals while also picking up an apple on Keene State's second goal of the game – which would put the Owls in the lead for the remainder of the game.

The Bison scored the opening goal of the game when Zaremski was able to find the back of the net at 11:37 of the first period. The Owls rattled off the next five goals – including the first goal of the second period to take a 5-1 lead.

Nichols (1-4) scored four of the next seven goals to go into the half trailing just 8-5.

After each team potted three goals in the third period, the Owls came out and scored the first three goals of the final period to take a six-goal lead in the game. The Bison answered back with two goals by Verville – including a goal with the man-advantage at 3:09 – but that was it for the scoring.

Freshman Brian McKinley (Nashua, N.H.) started in net for the Bison and took the loss after making nine saves. Sophomore James Keane (Franklin, Mass.) played the entire second-half and stopped five shots.

The Bison are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to New London, Connecticut to take on Mitchell at 3:00 p.m.
