HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell to the University of New England 5-1 in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action Friday night at Levy Rink.
 
The Bison had a season-high 22 shots but were outshot by the Nor'easters who fired off a season-high 46 shots in the game while scoring a season best five goals.
 
UNE had 10-different student-athletes record points with senior Melissa Boudrea (Lombard, Ill.) scored the ultimate game-winner with a power play goal at 13:55 of the first period on assists from classmates Gabriella Moscato (Wakefield, Mass.) and Emily Corrales (West Hartford, Conn.).
 
Junior Annie Mullen (Concord, N.H.) opened the scoring with her third goal of the season at 10:47 of the first period. Sophomore Carly Perreault (Berlin, N.H.) was credited with the assist on the goal.
 
The Nor'easters led 2-0 after the first stanza and stretched that lead to three goals when at 13:57 senior Gabby Crugnale (Malden, Mass.) potted an unassisted goal. UNE added one more goal in the second period before capping its scoring with one in the third.
 
The Bison saw their lone goal come from junior 
Laura Christie (Hudson, Mass.) at 1:09 of the third when she was able to poke one in with a lot of traffic in front of the net. Senior 
Samantha DiReda (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was credited with the assist.
 
Freshman 
Jill Hannigan (Portland, Maine) paced the Bison with six shots while sophomore 
Kelly Ferreira (North Falmouth, Mass.) added five. Corrales led all skaters in the game with seven shots.
 
Junior 
Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) stopped 41 shots while falling to 0-4-0 on the year while senior Sydney Helmbrecht (Grand Rapids, Minn.) made 21 saves in her second win of the year.
 
All-Time Series
The Bison have dropped the last two meetings with the Nor'easters but still lead the all-time series at 3-2-0.
