MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Freshman
J.B. Baker (Columbia, Md.) scored a pair of goals – including the game-winner with 2:10 remaining in the third – to propel the Nichols College men's ice hockey team to a 2-0 win over Becker College Saturday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the New England Sports Center.
Junior
Scott Cuthrell (Watertown, Mich.) picked up the primary apple on the GWG and added an empty netter at 19:37. Senior
Sean Swansen (Salem, N.H.) also scored for the Bison while graduate student
Patrick Salkind (Springfield, Va.) stopped 27 shots in his first start of the season.
Baker gave the Bison a 1-0 lead with a power play goal at 13:45 of the second period with the primary assist going to freshman d-man
David Chevrier (Baie-d'Urfe, Quebec). Swanson made it 2-0 when he scored off a feed from freshman
Vincent Crivello (Rosemere, Quebec) 2:51 into the third period.
Senior Connor Merrick (Manchester, N.H.) brought the Hawks to within a goal at 2-1 when he potted his second of the season at 12:25 of the third period. Less than two minutes later, Kevin Morello netted his first goal of the season to tie the game at two.
Becker senior netminder Tyler Stepke (Mars, Pa.) allowed three goals on 27 shots.

Tonight's game marked the 26th all-time meeting between Nichols College and Becker College. The Bison have now won four in a row against the Hawks and lead the series, 16-9-1.
