WESFIELD, Mass. – The Nichols College volleyball team split its season-ending tri-match at Westfield State on Saturday afternoon, scoring a 3-1 win over Massachusetts Maritime before falling 3-0 to the Owls.
 
Freshman J'ena Baker (Rockledge, Fla.) registered 24 kills (.412 hitting pct.) – one shy of her career-high of 25 – to go along with 15 digs and three service aces against the Buccaneers. The Bison won game one 25-21 and game two 25-22 before losing game three 25-17; they rallied back to win game four 25-23. Sophomore Sabrina Boermeester (Billerica, Mass.) chipped in with 15 kills, six digs, and three service aces while freshman Megan Gardner (South Deerfield, Mass.) tallied 41 assists, 11 digs, and six kills. Senior Charleen Klangos (Lowell, Mass.) led the Buccaneers with 13 kills.
 
Against the Owls, Baker notched her second-straight 24-kill match while collecting nine digs and two service aces. Senior Monica Pucko (Gardner, Mass.) went for four kills and four blocks as Nichols won game one, 25-20, before losing game two 25-8, game three 25-22, and game three 25-18. Senior Jen Green (Charlton, Mass.) paced Westfield State with 13 kills.

Today's matches against Massachusetts Maritime marked the second all-time meeting with the Buccaneers. The Bison lead the series, 2-0.
