Second half surge propels Fighting Scots past Bison, 21-10

DUDLEY, Mass. – Sophomore Brooke Marion (South Hadley, Mass.) led the Bison with four points (2-2-4) as the Nichols College women's lacrosse team fell 21-10 to Gordon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at Vendetti Field.

The Bison (5-10, 2-5 CCC) were tied 7-7 at the end of the first half as well as 14-14 in the shot category, however, the Fighting Scots (9-7, 4-3 CCC) rattled off 13 unanswered second half goals to take the win.

Seniors Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.), Alyssa Bufis (Linden, N.J.) and Erica Antonison (Albertson, N.Y.) each potted two goals in their final home game for the Bison while sophomore Olivia Morawski (Fairfield, Conn.) and junior Meghan Dombkowski (Sagaponack, N.Y.) added one.

The Scots were led by junior Jessica Castelline (Concord, Mass.) with ten points, including nine goals – six of which came in the second half. Sophomore Caroline Walton (Irvine, Calif.) and senior Abby Illian (Hillsdale, N.J.) each had four goals while junior Bailey Grinnell (South Hamilton, Mass.) added two.

Sophomore Katherine Cotton (Kennebunk, Maine) falls to 5-10 on the season after making six saves. Freshman Zita Nagel (Wayland, Mass.) started the game for the Fighting Scots and made three saves after playing the entire first half. Sophomore Jackie Kiernan (Lexington, Mass.) earned her seventh victory of the year after making two saves in the second half.

The Bison travel to take on conference foe Roger Williams on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. The Fighting Scots play at UNE on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
