Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) scored two goals as the Nichols College women's lacrosse team fell 20-5 to Roger Williams in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Wednesday afternoon at Bayside Field.
Senior
Alyssa Bufis (Linden, N.J.) added two goals while senior
Erica Antonison (Albertson, N.Y.) chipped in with a goal as the Bison complete their regular season 5-11 and 2-6 in the CCC.
The Hawks (11-4, 7-1 CCC) were led by senior Deven Machette (Norwalk, Conn.) with eight goals while classmate Kelsey Rahilly (East Longmeadow, Mass.) added a goal and 10 assists.
The Bison got on the board first with a goal by Bufis less than two minutes into the first half but the Hawks poured it on after that, holding a 13-1 lead at the half.
Bufis's goal in the second half marked her 40th goal of the season which is only the ninth time in program history that that has happened – second time by Bufis.
Sophomore
Katherine Cotton (Kennebunk, Maine) took the loss after stopping 11 shots in 50:34 of playing time. Freshman
Jacqueline Hogue (North Grafton, Mass.) allowed three goals and made two saves to finish the game. Sophomore Annie Bartkus (Bedford, Mass.) made four stops in the win.
The Bison's season is now complete while the Hawks await to see who they will play in the CCC Tournament.
