Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Bane, Hancock score six each in 24-9 win over Daniel Webster

DUDLEY, Mass. – Senior Michael Bane (North Grafton, Mass.) and junior Brian Hancock (Groton, Mass.) each potted six goals as the Nichols College men's lacrosse team rolled past Daniel Webster 24-9 Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at Vendetti Field.

Senior Brett Jackson (Larchmont, N.Y.) and freshman MacKenzie Martin (Merrimack, N.H.) scored three goals apiece, and sophomore Tyler Sikich (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) dished out four helpers and also scored to help the Bison improve to 4-2 on the season. In the process, they tied the program record for goals in a game, which was set in a win over Castleton on April 29, 1967.

Martin handed out three assists and was one of 11 Nichols' student-athletes to register at least one point. They outshot the Eagles 67-27 and forced 35 turnovers. Junior Anthony Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) and freshman Tommy Hanley (Syracuse, N.Y.) each scored three times for DWC (2-3).

The Bison led 6-2 after one behind three from Hancock. Three goals from Bane in the second sent Nichols into the half with a 13-4 lead, and two from Martin in the third pushed the lead to 20-5. Jackson and Cotoni each struck twice in the fourth.

Freshman James Keane (Franklin, Mass.) made six saves to earn his fourth win of the season. Junior Curtis Larade (Merrimack, N.H.) turned aside 20 shots in defeat for the Eagles. Sophomore Kevin D'Angelo (Pelham, N.H.) racked up a game-high nine ground balls while senior Sean Coates (Grafton, Mass.) collected eight.

The Bison open Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play Thursday with a 4 p.m. home contest against Western New England. The Eagles host Anna Maria Saturday at 8 p.m.
