Box Score DUDLEY, Mass – Senior
Phil Mitto (Windsor, Conn.) scored his first goal of the season as the Nichols College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Endicott in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Friday evening at Vendetti Field.
In a rematch of last year's CCC Quarterfinal, in which the Bison defeated the Gulls 3-1, Endicott struck first at the 32-minute mark when junior Diego Slobotzky (Mexico City, Mexico) took a throw-in from freshman Carter Ocko (Danvers, Mass.) and placed it into the lower left of the net.
Nichols (5-0-2, 1-0-1 CCC) answered back in the 41st minute. Sophomore
Felipe Schiller de Rezende (Bradenton, Fla.) crossed it from the right side across the box, in which Mitto then blasted a header by the senior goaltender Alex Jorge (Billerica, Mass.) to tie things at one.
The Bison outshot the Gulls 22-7 for the game, including a 10-2 difference in the second half.
Freshman
Rielee Mohsin (Stuart, Fla.) led all Bison with five shots while Mitto provided four. Junior Abdulla Al Khalifa (Riffa, Bahrain) had three of the seven shots to lead Endicott (3-3-1, 1-0-1 CCC).
Senior
Jeremy Nash (West Springfield, Mass.) stopped two shots and moves to 2-0-2 on the season, while Jorge picked up nine saves and moves to 3-2-1.
"They came out the way they we expected and we didn't come out the way we were supposed to," said Nichols head coach
Chris Traina. "We woke up towards the end of the first half, and continued to play hard in the second half but just couldn't get the ball in the net."
The Bison host Daniel Webster on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. The Gulls host Rivier on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. game.
