Meghan Dunn (Dudley, Mass.) potted her first collegiate goal on a penalty kick late in the first half to propel the Nichols College women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Mount Holyoke College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon
The win marks the first time the Bison have started off the season with a win since 2010 when they defeated Framingham State 4-1. It is Nichols first shutout to start the season since the 2009 campaign when it won 1-0 against Framingham State as well.
Dunn led the Bison with two shots on goal while freshman
Taylor Daniels (Dudley, Mass.) and junior
Madison Catarius (Wareham, Mass.) each had one shot.
The Lyons were led by senior Cassidy Robinson (Lebanon, N.H.) with two shots while her classmates Hannah Yee (Amherst, Mass.) and Tori Shaffrey (Charlottesville, Va.) had one shot apiece.
Junior
Kelly English (Mansfield, Mass.) earned the win picking up two saves. The win marks English's first win and shutout since September of 2012 when the Bison defeated Wheelock 6-0.
Senior Mackenzie Randall (Hawinton, Conn.) picks up one save and takes the loss.
The Bison return to action on Tuesday when they host Johnson & Wales at 4 p.m. at the Nichols Soccer Field. The Lyons host Lyndon State Thursday at 6 p.m.
