Nichols upended by Wentworth, 10-6

DUDLEY, Mass. – Freshman Rob Belger (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) stopped 16 shots as the Nichols College men's lacrosse team lost 10-6 to the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon.

The Leopards (4-6, 1-3 CCC) were led by junior Ryan Coakley (Flemington, N.J.), who tallied six points on three goals and three assists. Junior Michael Cushera (Waltham, Mass.) picked up two goals to go along with two assists and a team-high 10 shots.

The Bison (2-8, 0-3 CCC) dropped their eighth game in a row after starting the season 2-0. Nichols trailed only 5-4 at the half, but couldn't find it's rhythm in the second half.

Junior Michael Bane (North Grafton, Mass.) netted two goals while junior Corey Davis (Wakefield, Mass.) tallied a goal and one assist on the afternoon. Freshmen Matt Feigenblat (Shelton, Conn.) and Tyler Sikich (Valencia, Calif.), along with sophomore Anthony Verville (Portland, Maine), also potted goals for the Bison.

Senior Jared Proulx (Nashua, N.H.) picked up 12 saves to move to 4-6 on the season. Belger drops to 0-5.

The Bison host Salve Regina University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Wentworth host Curry College Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
