Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. – Junior
Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) scored seven goals as the Nichols College women's lacrosse team fell to Roger Williams University 15-11 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Senior Night Tuesday at Vendetti Field.
The Bison complete the 2014 season with a record of 7-8 (2-6 CCC). The seven wins ties the single-season program mark established in 2012.
Junior
Talia Hohmann (Marina, Calif.) scored two goals while junior
Sam MacMillan (Bridgewater, Mass.) and freshman
Brooke Marion (South Hadley, Mass.) each tallied once. Senior
Julie Monroe (Whitman, Mass.) picked up an assist.
The Hawks (9-7, 5-3 CCC) were led by junior Kelsey Rahilly (East Longmeadow, Mass.) with two goals and seven assists on the night. Junior Deven Machette (Norwalk, Conn.) potted six goals while junior Kristen Pingree (Georgetown, Mass.) netted three goals. Seniors Jessica Searl (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Catherine Smeykal (Collegeville, Pa.) scored two goals apiece.
Nichols trailed 5-4 at the break despite outshooting Roger Williams 12-10 in the first half. The Hawks outshot the Bison 19-8 in the second half and scored the final four goals of the game to seal the victory.
Freshman
Katherine Cotton (Kennebunk, Maine) recorded 10 saves in the loss. Freshman Kimberly Bolk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) stopped three shots on her way to her eighth win of the season.
The Hawks will host a CCC Quarterfinal contest Saturday.
