Sikich nets three in 16-4 loss at Western New England

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Tyler Sikich (Valencia, Calif.) recorded his first collegiate hat trick in Nichols College's 16-4 loss to Western New England College Tuesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Golden Bear Stadium.

Senior Brian Girard (Norwood, Mass.) picked up a goal and an assist as the Bison were outshot 54-22 on the evening. Freshman Rob Belger (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) made 19 saves between the pipes.

Senior Sean Lawton (Abington, Mass.) potted a game-high five goals for the Golden Bears, who also saw classmate Adam Knapton (Canandiaigua, N.Y.) tally seven points on three goals and four assists.

Nichols trailed 3-1 after one period of play but was outscore 12-0 over the next 30 minutes as the Golden Bears led 15-1 after three periods.

Junior Sean Coates (Grafton, Mass.) led all Nichols field players with five ground balls and also caused a pair of turnovers. Junior Brandon Body (Newtown, Conn.) made two saves to earn the win for WNE.

Nichols (2-7, 0-2 CCC) hosts Wentworth Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Western New England plays at Salve Regina Saturday at 2 p.m.
