Shayne McNally (Auburn, Mass.) had three hits in Nichols College's 6-0 loss to Wisconsin-Platteville Friday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at North County Charlotte Regional Park.
The Pioneers (2-8) received a very strong pitching outing from junior Mike Boushley (Hortonville, Wis.). Boushley (1-1) pitched a complete game, allowing only seven hits while walking one and striking out eight.
Nichols (1-8) had its best opportunity to score in the bottom of the eighth inning when there were three Bison on base. However, sophomore
Benjamin Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) was gunned down at the plate by sophomore Ryan Lehmann (Peosta, Iowa) after sophomore
Joseph Nicolace (Cranston, R.I.) singled to left field to end the inning.
The Bison were outhit by the Pioneers, 11-7. McNally led the Bison with three hits while Harrow, Nicolace, freshmen
Matt Hardy (North Attleboro, Mass.), and
Tyler Ferdinand (Middleboro, Mass.) each had one.
Freshman
Patrick Sullivan (Canton, Conn.) put forth a solid outing despite picking up his second loss of the season. He pitched 5.1 innings and allowed four earned runs on seven hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
Nichols will close out its Florida trip tomorrow morning against Plymouth State at 10:00 a.m. The Pioneers play Fredonia State tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.
