DUDLEY, Mass. – Freshman
Brooke Marion (South Hadley, Mass.) scored four goals and picked up two assists as the Nichols College women's lacrosse team defeated Mass. Maritime Academy 18-2 Wednesday night at Vendetti Field.
The 18 goals are the most goals in a game at home since the Bison won 20-9 against Emmanuel (MA) two seasons ago.
Nichols (3-1) jumped out to a 12-0 lead including outshooting the Buccaneers 30-1 in the first half. The Bison outshot Mass. Maritime 40-5 for the game.
Four student-athletes scored hat tricks for the Bison. Marion, junior
Erica Antonison (Albertson, N.Y.), and junior
Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) each picked up four goals while sophomore
Alexa Smith (Salem, N.H.) had three goals. Smith added two assists and Murphy also tallied an assist.
Junior
Talia Hohmann (Marina, Calif.) scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season and freshman
Kelly Downey (Waltham, Mass.) netted her first collegiate marker.
Mass. Maritime (0-2) scored both of its goals in the second half. Sophomore's Janine Prokscha (Washington, Conn.) and Shavonne Boyle (Doylestown, Pa.) both picked up their second goal of the season.
Freshman
Katherine Cotton (Kennebunk, Maine) moves to 3-1 on the season after picking up one save in the win. Sophomore Jenna Breault (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) tallied 10 saves as she drops her first game of the season (0-1).
The Bison will be back in action Saturday when they play host to Westfield State at 12:00 p.m. Mass. Maritime travels to Wheelock on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
