Taylor Daniels (Dudley, Mass.) potted her second goal of the season as the Nichols College women's soccer team fell to Eastern Nazarene 2-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions (8-9-0, 5-3-0 CCC) got things going in the 33rd minute when freshman Kelly Couite (West Bridgewater, Mass.) broke open the scoring with a goal from the corner. Eastern Nazarene took a 1-0 lead into the half.
The Bison answered back at 56:12 when Daniels scored the equalizer off of a rebound of a shot taken by freshman
Meghan Dunn (Dudley, Mass.). The ball deflected off of junior goaltender Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.).
Eastern Nazarene took the lead back in the 79th minute in similar fashion to the way it lost it. Sophomore Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) took a shot that was saved by junior
Kelly English (Mansfield, Mass.), but the rebound was put away by freshman Kyera Bryant (Guilford, Conn.).
The Bison were outshot 16-11. Dunn led the way for the Bison with three shots while Daniels, freshman
Caitlin Ansart (West Springfield, Mass.), and senior
Michelle Gardner (Ayer, Mass.) each had two. The Lions were led by Lawrence with seven shots.
English stopped four shots and falls to 4-9-0 on the season. Farley picked up six saves to improve to 8-9-0 on the year.
Nichols has now dropped its last four matches with Eastern Nazarene after a 12-0-1 start to the series, dating back to 1998.
The Bison travel to take on conference foe Wentworth for the final game of the regular season on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. The Lions host Endicott on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
