Box Score BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Nichols College men's soccer team dropped their first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match of the year to the University of New England 1-0 Saturday evening at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Nor'easters (9-3-2, 3-2-1 CCC) put one on the board in the 53th minute when freshman Darius Ntacyo (Saco, Maine) took a pass from senior Sean Goodrich (Gorham, N.H.) and put it inside the right post.
The Bison (9-2-3, 4-1-1 CCC) outshot UNE 21-4 for the game, with double-digit shots in both halves.
Freshman
Rielee Mohsin (Stuart, Fla.) paced the Bison with eight shots while senior
Michael Perry (Plainville, Mass.) and junior
Isaac Alvarenga (Marlborough, Mass.) had three apiece. Ntacyo led the Nor'easters with two shots.
Senior goaltender
Jeremy Nash (West Springfield, Mass.) had one save and drops his first game of the season. Nash's last loss was at Western New England in last year's CCC Semifinal. Senior Aidan McParland (Brockville, Ontario) stopped five shots to improve to 9-3-2 on the season.
This is the first time the Nor'easters have defeated the Bison since the 2004 season, when they won 1-0 in Biddeford.The Bison host Western New England on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Nichols Soccer Field. The Nor'easters host Salve Regina on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
