DUDLEY, Mass.-  The Nichols College women's tennis team defeated Endicott Sunday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts 5-4, and have moved into a three-way tie atop the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).

Bison came out strong winning two of the three doubles matches.  Senior Anna Dyakiv (Amsterdam, N.Y.) and freshman Cristina Szepanski (Windsor Locks, Conn.) battled to defeat freshman Chrissy Martel (Bangor, Maine) and senior Natalie Egbert (Uxbridge, Mass.) 8-5 in No. 1 action.

The No. 2 team of junior Lindsay Benoit (Holden, Mass.) and freshman Emma Carey (Venice, Fla.) defeated freshman Amy Heacox (Norwich, Vt.) and junior Mackenzie Rhodes (Harvard, Mass.) 8-2.

The Gulls lone win on the double's side came from their No. 3 team of sophomore Suzie Newman (Portland, Maine) and classmate Brittany Potter (Corona, Calif.) defeating senior Erin Rivers (Bristol, R.I.) and sophomore Michelle Keklik (Stratford, Conn.) 8-3.

In singles, Bison top 2 seeds both won in straight sets.  No. 1 Dyakiv defeated Martel 6-3, 6-1 while No. 2 Benoit took care of Heacox 6-0, 6-2.

Endicott took wins from the No.'s 3, 4, and 6 spots.  No. 3 Egbert defeated Szepanski 6-2, 6-1 and No. 4 Newman beat Carey in straight sets 6-3, 6-0.  No. 6 Potter and junior Katie Malloy (Norwell, Mass.) went into a tiebreaker to decide their match, with Potter coming out on top 4-6, 6-2, 10-3

The deciding match came from the No. 5 spot.  Junior Kelsey Peterson (Fairbanks, Alaska) defeated Rhodes in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

"That was definitely our biggest win of the year, over a very good team," said Nichols head coach Paul Brower. "Singles, Anna and Lindsey took care of business, and Kelsey Peterson deserves a ton of credit today."

Nichols will play host to Assumption in non-conference action Monday at 3:00 p.m.  Endicott will host Salve Regina in CCC action on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
