Box Score

NASHUA, N.H. – The Nichols College men's soccer team played to a scoreless tie at Daniel Webster College Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Eagle Field.

Nichols remained unbeaten in moving to 5-0-3.  Daniel Webster earned its first point against the Bison program since the 1994 season, ending a stretch of seven consecutive defeats, to move to 4-4-1.

The teams staged a physical battle all afternoon, combining for 30 fouls and eight cards. Nichols overall won the battle of field position, finishing with a 21-7 advantage in shots, but neither team was able to break through for an eventual winner.

Bison sophomore goalkeeper Francesco Chiaravalloti (Torrington, Conn.) made two stops while Eagle sophomore Sean Hamilton (Brookline, Mass.) made nine saves.

Senior Scott Palmerino (Southbridge, Mass.) and freshman Tyler Brenner (Stuart, Fla.) led the Bison in shots with four each.

Palmerino took a pass to the far left side and streaked in on Hamilton on a partial breakaway with three minutes remaining in the first overtime, but his shot clanged off the cross bar. Later in the second overtime session, sophomore Isaac Alvarenga (Milford, Mass.) had a clear shot from 10 yards, but Hamilton made an outstretched save to knock down the attempt and preserve the tie.

Nichols travels to Western New England on Saturday for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Daniel Webster travels to Southern Vermont on Saturday for a conference match at 1:00 p.m.
