SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Nichols College placed 28 student-athletes on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Spring 2012-13 Academic All-Conference Team. The women's lacrosse team led the way with seven student-athletes.

Among the 27 student-athletes were seven from the women's lacrosse program, five from men's basketball, four from men's lacrosse, three from baseball, men's tennis and softball squads, and two from women's basketball.

Senior captain
Darcy Russell (Uncasville, Conn.) paced the women's lacrosse team as she took home the honor for the third-straight season. She was joined by juniors
Shelby Aminti (Pepperell, Mass.),
Samantha Maddern (West Haven, Conn.),
Kate Porter (Marlborough, Mass.) and
Gabriella Sarkis (Springfield, Mass.). Sophomores
Alyssa Bufis (Linden, N.J.) and
Sam MacMillan (Bridgewater, Mass.) also made the team in their first year of eligibility.

Men's basketball senior
Kyle Mascilak (Sparta, N.J.) was joined by juniors
Sam Horning (Falmouth, Maine),
Jeff Schmeltz (Pascoag, R.I.), and
Ryan Sheehan (North Attleboro, Mass.), while sophomore
Joe Gallant (Salem, N.H.) made his debut on the academic squad.

A pair of seniors led the men's lacrosse team in the classroom as
Steve Delahanty (Auburn, N.H.) and
Ryan Flavin (Grafton, Mass.) were named to the squad in their final season. Junior
Liam Sullivan (Mashpee, Mass.) and sophomore
Corey Davis (Wakefield, Mass.) were also lauded for their academics.

The baseball team had a representative from each class with senior
Cody Jankins (West Brookfield, Mass.) leading the 'Nichols Nine' for the second straight-year. Junior
Tyler Shute (Mashpee, Mass.) and sophomore
Brett Franciosi (Leominster, Mass.) each earned their first CCC academic award.

The 2013 Commonwealth Coast Conference champion and NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship second round participants were represented by graduate student
David Drucker (Bellmore, N.Y.), as well as junior
Paul Healy (Pomfret, Conn.) and sophomore
Andrew Haas (Whitinsville, Mass.).

Softball sophomores
Rachel Dalrymple (Belvidere, N.J.) and
Molly Melanson (Simsbury, Conn.) joined junior and two-time honoree
Rebecca Palmarozza (Hamden, Conn.) on the squad. A three-time honoree, senior
Kristina Lindgren (Sturbridge, Mass.) represented the women's basketball team, along with junior
Devon Spirka (Wilmington, Vt.).
Endicott led all CCC schools with 50 student-athletes, followed by Western New England with 45, Gordon with 32, Salve Regina with 31, University of New England with 29, Nichols with 27, Curry with 26, Roger Williams with 25, Wentworth with 19, and Eastern Nazarene with 15. Â

The Academic All- Conference honor rewards varsity student-athletes who attain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher. The Spring Academic All-Conference Team encompasses student-athletes who participated in the sports of baseball, men's and women's basketball, golf, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, and men's tennis.
