Bison Topped by League-Leading Endicott, 19-4

Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Nichols College women's lacrosse team fell 19-4 to first-place Endicott in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest at Endicott Stadium on Satrurday afternoon.

Endicott senior Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) led the way with four goals, along the way passing the 50-goal plateau for the season, while classmate Kelly Tierney (S. Hadley, Mass.) scored twice and dished out six assists, matching the second best mark in a game that, among others, she had already set once herself.

The Gulls led 6-0 just one second over the five-minute mark of the first half as Tierney opened the scoring a minute in and then her sister Katie Tierney (S. Hadley, Mass.) netted two of the next three goals. Katie would go on to have a hat trick in the game, scoring the final goal of the first half, and added an assist as well.

Sophomores Alyssa Bufis (Linden, N.J.) and Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) each scored two goals for the Bison. Bufis got the visitors on the scoreboard at the 22:18 mark, taking the pass from sophomore Sam McMillan (Bridgewater, Mass.).

Callie Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) answered under a minute later, part of a two-goal, two-assist game for the junior, which sparked a 6-1 Endicott run to end the half with the Gulls ahead 12-2. Isabelle Sipperly (Greenwich, N.Y.) scored the first of her two goals in the game during that stretch for Endicott.

Davis scored three more times in the second half, including the opening goal four minutes in and another at the twenty minute mark after Murphy had answered for Nichols.

The Gulls controlled possession by winning 15 of 25 draw controls, including seven by junior Rachel Campos (Shrewsbury, Mass.), five by Davis and three by Murphy, who also picked up three ground balls. Todd caused a game-high four turnovers, picked up four ground balls and added three points with a goal and two assists, one of which set up fellow Senior Day honoree Stacia Geno for her second goal of the season.

Taylor Rogerson (Washington Depot, Conn.) grabbed three ground balls and scored twice in the final seven minutes of play and Endicott freshman Katie Clements (Reading, Mass.) collected her first career point with an assist.

Junior netminder Rachel Socolow (Westford, Mass.) stopped seven Bison shots and allowed just four goals against for her tenth victory of the season.

Rookie Nia Kelly (Cary, N.C.) got the start in goal for the Bison, and fell to 1-1 on the year, making one save on 12 shots in sixteen minutes of play. First-year AnneMarie Fana (Lawrence, Mass.) relieved her and made eight stops.

Murphy won four draw controls for the visitors, while sophomore Erica Antonison (Albertson, N.Y.) grabbed three draws, and freshman Alexa Smith (Salem, N.H.) added an assist in the loss.

Nichols hosts Gordon on Wednesday. Three seniors will be honored prior to the 4:00 p.m. opening draw.

The Gulls will be on the road for their final two games of the year, starting tomorrow afternoon when they visit Babson for a 1:00 pm matchup.
