Bison roll past Terriers to earn first win, 18-3

DUDLEY, Mass. – Junior Liam Sullivan (Mashpee, Mass.) and freshman Chris Litchfield (Burlington, Mass.) each scored three goals to lift the Nichols College men's lacrosse team to an 18-3 win over Thomas (ME) College in non-conference action Friday evening at Vendetti Field.

Sophomore Michael Bane (North Grafton, Mass.) added two goals and two assists for the Bison (1-3), who outshot the Terriers 52-14 on the evening en route to their first win of the season. Seniors Macaulay Gillis (Northborough, Mass.) and Michael Busby (Mission Viejo, Calif.), along with freshman Tyler Young (Warwick, N.Y.), potted two goals each, and classmate Steve Delahanty (Auburn, N.H.) recorded a goal and two assists.

In goal, freshman Seth Drouin (Madison, Conn.) recorded nine saves to earn his first collegiate victory. Senior Jesse Morkeski (Damariscotta, Maine) tallied 18 saves for the Terriers, who slipped to 1-2 on the season.

Nichols raced out to a 7-0 lead behind a goal and two assist from Bane. After senior Sean Machin (Brunswick, Maine) scored the first of his two goals at 11:21 of the second, the Bison scored six times in less than seven minutes in the second quarter to take a commanding 12-1 lead into halftime. Sullivan scored all three of his goals in the first 30 minutes while Litchfield and Busby each notched a pair.

The Terriers fared no better in the second half as they were outscored 6-2 over the final two quarters. Gillis and Young each netted a pair for Nichols.

The Bison return to action on Monday with a 7 p.m. home contest against Salem St. The Terriers play at Wentworth Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
