Box Score
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – A trio of UMass Dartmouth women's soccer players found the back of the net as the Corsairs blanked visiting Nichols, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match.
Sophomore midfielder Maura Goncalves (Dartmouth, Mass.) opened the scoring in the 28th minute when she chipped the ball from just outside the box. The Corsairs continued to press late in the first half, but were unable to capitalize as Bison keeper
Erica Carey (South Windsor, Conn.) made several diving saves.
Junior defender Kathleen Landers (Danvers, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season in the 61st minute when she converted a cross from junior forward Tori Pierce (Tiverton, R.I.). Five minutes later senior forward Jillian Van Ness capped the scoring when she finished in the lower right hand corner off a cross from Goncalves.
UMass Dartmouth outshot Nichols, 20-3. Junior goalkeeper Krista Chauvin (Seekonk, Mass.) was not called upon to make a save as she picked up her second win, and shutout, of the season while Carey had nine saves for the Bison.
The Bison will visit Wheelock Thursday at 7:00 p.m. while the Corsairs (2-1-0) return to action when they host Eastern Nazarene on Tuesday.
