Erica Carey (South Windsor, Conn.) claimed her first collegiate win to help lift host Nichols past the United States Coast Guard Academy in a non-conference women's soccer match played at Vendetti Field on Thursday afternoon. The Bison earn their first win of the season and even out at 1-1-1 while the Bears dip to 0-3-0 on the year.
The first half ended in a 0-0 draw as Nichols claimed a slim 5-4 edge on shots and took the only corner of the stanza. Bears' backstop junior
Devin Fellman (New Port Richey, Fla.) made her only save of the contest in the 23rd minute of the match.
Following the intermission, Tosti booted the ball from 18 yards out off a feed from rookie
Rhianna Llewellyn (Wolfeboro, N.H.) to give the Bison what proved to be the decisive marker in the 48th minute.
For the match, Coast Guard outshot the hosts 13-6 and took all three corners in the second half for a 3-1 advantage on the day.
In addition to collecting her first win, Carey posted her first career shutout for the Bison courtesy of a seven-save effort. Junior

Avery Ayres (Wake Forest, N.C.) led the Bears with a pair of shots on goal each.

Damir Pesa. “We pushed all 90-minutes and came out with the win.”
Nichols is back in action on Saturday when the Bison head to Mass.-Dartmouth for a 4:00 p.m. match. Coast Guard will be idle until Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. when the club travels to Mitchell.
