Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. – Senior Kamali Webson (Bellingham, Mass.) scored the lone marker of the match as Roger Williams defeated Nichols, 1-0, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference men's soccer showdown on Saturday. With the win, the Hawks push their record to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in league play. Nichols evens out at 4-4 on the year and is now 2-1 against CCC opponents.
Webson hooked up with senior Billy Kissane (Glastonbury, Conn.) to net the only goal of the match at 20:32. Both teams took six shots in the first half as Nichols doubled up the Hawks 6-3 on corner kicks.
The Bison had a pair of great chances late in the match. With 13:19 showing on the scoreboard, first-year
Donny Whittle (Ellington, Conn.) had a close range shot stopped by a Roger Williams defender. At 87:51 Whittle attacked the net again as he tried to beat traffic with a great move only to be denied by the Hawks back line. The Bison took all five corner kicks in the second half and held a slim 7-5 margin in the shot column.
Sophomore Tom Mangels (Garden City, N.Y.) improved to 3-1 on the season in a three-save effort for the visitors. First-year
Alex Geas (Somers, Conn.) made a game-high seven stops for the Bison.
Nichols jumps right back into action as the squad hosts New England College on Monday at 4:00 p.m. Roger Williams entertains Wheaton (Mass.) on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
