KEENE, N.H. – First-year Tiago Prazeres (West Hartford, Conn.) scored the lone Nichols goal in a 3-1 setback to Ithaca in a men's soccer non-conference contest that took place at the Xara Soccer Classic on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Bombers even out their record at 1-1 while the Bison slip to 0-2.
 
Ithaca freshman Drew Tallon (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) lit up the scoreboard as he tapped in a feed from sophomore Greg Hepper (Longmeadow, Mass.) at 26:53. The Bombers added to their lead 12 minutes later when sophomore Tim Goldman (Fayetteville, N.Y.) sent in sophomore A.J. Wolfanger (New Hartford, N.Y.) to give Ithaca a 2-0 halftime advantage.    
 
Nichols got on the board as freshman Tiago Prazeres (West Hartford, Conn.) booted a rocket just under the crossbar in the 66th minute for his first collegiate goal. The Bison had a couple of chances to get the equalizer. With four minutes to play, freshman Ryan Nunn's (Old Lyme, Conn.) shot sailed just over the net. A minute later, senior Thomas Miller's (Whitman, Mass.) shot from 20 yards out just skimmed off the far post. A misplayed ball resulted in a goal by Goldman with 29 seconds to go to account for the final Ithaca goal.
 
First-year Alex Geas (Somers, Conn.) was tagged with the loss as he manned the net for the first 45 minutes. Classmate Francesco Chiaravalloti (Torrington, Conn.) took over duties in the second half as both Nichols backstops were credited with a save on the day.
 
Junior goalkeeper David Kaminsky (Ithaca, N.Y.) made six saves to earn his first victory of the season for the Bombers.
 
Rookie Donny Whittle (Ellington, Conn.) represented Nichols on the Xara Classic All-Tournament Team as he gave the Bison an early lead in Saturday's match vs. Keene State.
 
Nichols welcomes Clark on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. for the squad's 2012 home opener.
