DUDLEY, Mass.  – Junior Erin Rivers (Bristol, Conn.) and senior Megan Woodruff (Morris, Conn.) teamed up to claim the second doubles flight as Nichols fell 8-1 in a home match to Wheaton in a non-conference women's tennis match on Friday afternoon at Francis W. Robinson Courts. The Lyons improve to 2-0 while the Bison dip to 3-4.
 
The Wheaton duo of junior Lyndsay Cooke (Bakersfield, Calif.) and sophomore Alexandria Marlowe (Mesa, Ariz.) bested junior Anna Dyakiv (Amsterdam, N.Y.) and sophomore Lindsay Benoit (Holden, Mass.) before Woodruff and Rivers delivered the third doubles flight for the Bison. Juniors Morgan Bell (Gloucester, Mass.) and Sarah Crom (Bremen, Germany) took the second doubles flight to put the visitors ahead 2-1 heading into singles action.
 
Cooke picked up a victory at the first singles flight as her Bison counterpart retired in the second set. Crom (6-3, 6-1), senior Jesse Boggis (Hopkinton, Mass.) (6-1, 6-2) and rookie Caroline DiNicola-Fawley (Brattleboro, Vt.) (7-5, 6-3) each claimed their respective flights with straight set victories. At the second singles flight, Benoit took the first set as Marlowe finished the match with sets of 6-1 and 6-0. Senior Alex Cifone (Bristol, Conn.) took the initial set of the third singles flight 7-6 (6-8) as Bell came back with a pair of 6-1 sets for the win.
 
Nichols travels to Assumption on Monday for a 3:30 p.m. match.
