Krista-Jean Forand paced the Bison with six goals and an assist as Nichols defeated visiting Massachusetts Maritime 21-4 on Wednesday night in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup. The 21 Bison markers and the 17-goal margin are the most for the program since defeating Daniel Webster 22-5 on March 22, 2010 under the lights at Vendetti Field.

Emily Yourie found the back of the net twice to help the Bison as first-year
Alyssa Bufis scored her first collegiate goal. Forand along with junior
Darcy Russell each picked up four ground balls while also causing five turnovers. Murphy collected a game-high seven draw controls.
Sophomore Hillary Doucette led the Buccaneers with a pair of goals to go along with a pair of ground balls and a draw control. Senior Julie Shebroe and junior Kim Courcy each aided the visitor's offense with a score each. Senior Kerri Conway scooped up three ground balls as rookie Tenley Gillett, junior Shelagh Hogan and Courcy joined Doucette with two ground balls each.
The Bison jumped on the scoreboard early and held a 7-0 lead with just under five minutes expired. Doucette and Shebroe potted goals just two minutes apart to help the Buccaneers to slice into the hosts lead beginning with 25:08 remaining in the first half. Nichols would carry a 13-2 advantage into the break.
Courcy struck 1:06 into the second stanza to help Mass. Maritime inch closer before the Bison reeled off seven more goals capped off by Forand's fifth goal of the contest and sixth of the young season with 12:37 remaining in the contest. Doucette netted the final Buccanner goal with 8:38 to go. Forand would complete the scoring with 2:18 showing on the scoreboard.
First-year goalkeeper
Jenn Townsend picked up the victory in her collegiate debut and was called upon to make a pair of stops for the Bison. Gillett collected 14 saves for the Buccaneers.
Both squads are back in action on Saturday as the Bison (1-1) begin Commonwealth Coast Conference play with a trip to Wenham, Mass. for a 1:00 p.m. draw at Gordon while Mass. Maritime (0-4) entertains Husson at noon.
