Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. (Sept. 8) – UMass Dartmouth freshman Danielle Gauvin and sophomore Tori Pierce each scored to lead the visiting Corsairs past Nichols on a rainy Thursday afternoon at Vendetti Field. With the win, the visitors improve to 3-1, while the Bison slip to 0-3.

Maureen Lynch stopped five shots early in the first half. A corner kick set piece allowed the Corsairs to grab a 1-0 lead. Gauvin found the back of the net after junior Vanessa Demelo put the ball in play just over the 20 minute mark. The Bison's best shot of the contest was taken by junior
Kimberly Cummings at 27:02. Her effort was blocked by a UMass Dartmouth defender. At the break, the Corsairs led 9-3 on shots and 5-0 on corner kick opportunities.
Lynch saw another five shots come her way before Pierce and junior Jillian Van Ness combined to put another tally in the scoring column for the Corsairs in the 87th minute. Pierce received the cross from the top of the box to place the ball in the lower right corner of the goal. For the half, UMass Dartmouth took 11 shots to Nichols three and held a 5-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Junior Stephanie Borges and sophomore Krista Chauvin each saw 45 minutes of action in net for the Corsairs. Borges faced a pair of shots in the opening half, while Chauvin made a pair of stops during her shift. On the day, the visitors took 20 shots with 12 on goal and had 10 corner kick opportunities.
Lynch finished with double-digit saves for the third time this season as she recorded 10 for the Bison. As a team, Nichols attempted six shots with four aimed at the net.
Nichols entertains Gordon in its CCC opener on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. while UMass Dartmouth ventures to Eastern Nazarene on Wednesday for a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m.
