Jillian McQuiggan and senior
Chelsey Miller claimed the second doubles flight to help Nichols best Gordon 9-0 on Saturday in Commonwealth Coast Conference women's tennis. The tandem has won four straight matches, three at second doubles and one at first doubles.
The duo is also on a run in singles competition. McQuiggan picked up her fifth straight singles win with a pair of 6-0 sets in the fifth flight. Miller earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the fourth flight over sophomore Alyssa McCarthy for her fourth singles triumph in a row.
In addition to McQuiggan, first-year
Lindsay Benoit and junior Alexandra CIfone each posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over their counterparts in the second and third flight, respectively.
Sophomore
Anna Dyakiv topped senior Kallie Garrett in the first flight 6-1, 6-1 and first-year
Kelsey Peterson rebounded from a 6-3 to post a 6-0 to take the sixth flight over junior Katie Madison.
In doubles, the first and third flight blanked their opponents 8-0. The first flight was comprised of Dyakiv and Benoit while Cifone and Peterson played in the third flight.
Nichols (8-3, 5-0) ventures to Curry for a CCC match beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gordon (1-5, 1-3) hosts Western New England also on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
