Michael Perry teamed for their second goal of the week as Nichols edged Wentworth, 1-0, at Michael J. Vendetti field on Saturday afternoon in a men's soccer matchup. Nichols improves to 5-2-1 overall while Wentworth slips to 3-2-2 on the season. Each team now sports an identical 1-1-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference action.
The single tally of the contest came at 34:25 when Perry fed Coderre who found success inside the 8-yard box. On the season, Coderre has scored six goals as Perry is on the ledger with three assists. The Leopards mustered its only shot on goal in the 32nd minute when freshman Charlie Gibbons tried to sneak the ball past rookie goalkeeper
Alexsandro Usevicius.
Usevicius picks up his first collegiate win in his first start. Nichols held a 16-7 advantage on shots and blanked the Leopards, 7-0, on corner kick opportunities.
Junior netminder John Longo made seven stops, while seniors John Geleski and Josh Deschene along with first-year Nick Cotter each took a pair of shots for Wentworth.
Nichols continues its conference schedule on Wednesday with a trip to Western New England for a 4:00 p.m. match. Wentworth hits the road Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference contest at Brandeis.
