DUDLEY, Mass. (Sept. 10) – The Nichols College women's tennis team won two matches in a tri-match hosted at the Francis W. Robinson Courts Saturday, defeating Rhode Island College, 9-0, in the morning before dealing Assumption a 5-4 loss in the final match of the day. Assumption took an 8-1 decision from RIC in the afternoon's action.

First-year Lindsay Benoit was stellar at the second singles flight for the Bison, winning both matches without surrendering a point. She teamed with sophomore Anna Dyakiv for an 8-3 top doubles win over the Greyhounds to close out the day.

Erica Micciche and Abby Blaisdell teamed up for a pair of doubles wins for the Greyhounds, posting 8-2 and 8-3 victories from the second flight.

Rhode Island College's Chelsea Brown picked up the Anchorwomen's lone point on the day, rallying to best first year Chrissy Lyons of Assumption at the first singles flight in a third set tiebreak, 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6). Brown and Gabriela Batek gave chase to the Bison's Jillian McQuiggan and Chelsey Miller at second doubles, but the host team prevailed with an 8-5 victory in the day's opening action.

Nichols returns to action Sunday in a 2 p.m. non-conference match at Wesleyan (Conn.).
