Scott Coderre, move to 2-1-1 overall while the Scots now sport a 1-1-2 mark as both begin league play at 0-0-1.
Gordon junior forward Kellen Kasiguran drilled a line drive to the top right corner of the net in the 15th minute for the early 1-0 lead. Senior midfielder Travis Masters helped set up the strike.
Less than 20 minutes later, Coderre broke free and booted the ball past the diving Gordon goalkeeper to the lower left corner of the net.
Coderre found the back of the net again at 37:27 to put the Bison in front 2-0 off a pass from sophomore midfielder
Pat Gaumond. At the end of the frame, Nichols led 15-2 on shots and took a trio of corner kicks.
The Scots gained the edge on shots as they took seven to Nichols five, in the second half, before sophomore midfielder Andrew Vandervoot netted what proved to be the final game-tying tally in the 82nd minute of play. Rookie forward Kristian Kasiguran served up the assist. For the period, Gordon held a 12-6 advantage on shots and a 7-2 lead in corner kick opportunities.
Nichols took three shots while the Scots took one in the first extra session. Both squads did not aim at the net in the final period while the Bison took a corner kick in each overtime session.
Senior goalkeeper
Brendan Hamilton made five stops in the 110-minute effort for Nichols. The squad took 24 shots including 15 on net and seven corner kicks on the day.
For the Scots, senior Alex Sosler turned away 13 shots. Gordon attempted 15 shots with seven aimed at the net and saw all if its seven corner kicks opportunities come in the second half.
The Bison conclude a two-game homestand when Becker comes to town on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference tilt. Gordon ventures to Bowdoin for a 4:30 p.m. non-conference showdown on Tuesday.
