Box Score 2 FORT MYERS, Fla. (Mar. 16) – The Nichols College baseball team split a doubleheader with Millikin University Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Wooster, 4-1, before winning the nightcap, 7-3. Nichols plays University of Dubuque Thursday in a 9 a.m. game at Terry Park before wrapping up action at the Gene Cusic Classic with a 3 p.m. game against St. Lawrence University.
Millikin capitalized on a pair of errors in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead, and extended it to four runs on a two-out RBI double in the fifth. Nichols threatened in the third with a runner on third, but didn't not get on the board until the seventh when Jarred Stuczynski (#) came around to score on an error after drawing a leadoff walk. Mike Rafferty (Framingham, Mass.) took the loss, fanning three with four runs on four hits through the opening five innings. James Curto (Braintree, Mass.) pitched a hitless sixth.
In the nightcap, Nichols scored three runs in the third and the fifth, paced by three RBI from John Micciche (Holbrook, Mass.). Nichols got past a three-run Millikin first inning to hold them to second for the rest of the mage.
