Pat Gaumond planted the game-winning tally in the first overtime as #3 Nichols upset #2 Gordon 2-1 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference men's soccer semifinal match on Thursday afternoon. The Bison advance to the championship match on Saturday when the team heads to #1 Western New England for a 1:00 p.m. showdown.
Nichols improves to 12-4-2 while Gordon ends its campaign with an 8-8-3 mark.
The Scots gained an early lead at 19:00 as junior Kellen Kasiguran sent a pass to sophomore Treavor Hinshaw. Nichols had a pair of chances to score as a shot by junior
Scott Coderre hit the post with 39:25 remaining in the half. Sophomore
Fred Willard attempted to tie the match at 29:17 but the ball was scooped up by the Gordon keeper. For the half, the Scots took four of the five corner kicks as the Bison held a 3-2 edge on shots.

Brendan Whitson looked to bring the match to a stalemate before Coderre netted the equalizer at 49:12. Sophomore
Scott Palmerino had the best chance to put the Bison ahead with 21:35 left in regulation as he booted a line drive toward the Gordon netminder.
In the extra session, Gaumond delivered the heroics with at 98:14 to send the bison to the title match for the third time in four years. On the day, Nichols held an 11-10 advantage on shots and 7-6 on corners.
Senior
Brendan Hamilton stopped four shots in his 47th career win. Senior backs
David Johnson and
Eric Kelly allowed only five shots on goal in the victory.
Gordon senior Spencer Lord collected four saves in the effort.
