Box Score

NEWPORT, R.I. (Sept. 30) - Junior Sean McAllister scored the game-tying goal midway through the second half to help the Salve Regina University men's soccer team earn a 1-1 double overtime tie with Nichols College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action Thursday afternoon at Reynolds Field.

Senior Mark Capitanio (Mansfield, Mass.) scored his fourth goal of the season for the Bison, who moved to 6-1-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in the conference. Salve Regina, meanwhile, goes to 6-2-1 and 4-0-1 in TCCC.

After a scoreless first half of play which saw a total of 17 fouls called, the Bison stormed out of the gates at halftime and grabbed the lead just 43 seconds into the frame. Capitanio cut to the middle of the field and fired a low shot from about 30 yards out that found its way into the left corner of the net. The goal was the first allowed by the Seahawks in conference play this season.

The Bison continued to control the match, holding the Seahawks without a shot on net until McAllister's marker at 68:29. He split a pair of Bison and ripped a shot into the top left corner of the net for his eighth of the season.

In the extra sessions, the Seahawks outshot the Bison 4-3 and finished with a 19-14 edge on the afternoon.

Sophomore Devin O'Gorman recorded seven saves - including a pair in overtime - for Salve Regina while junior Brendan Hamilton (North Attleboro, Mass.) stopped six Seahawk shots.

The Seahawks return to action on Saturday when they travel to Colby-Sawyer for a 1 p.m. contest. The Bison travel to Eastern Nazarene for a 3 p.m. match on Saturday.
