Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. (Sept. 11) – Nichols College sophomore Scott Coderre (Thompson, Conn.) scored two second-half goals to lead the men's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Endicott in a home The Commonwealth Coast Conference game Saturday morning. Nichols improves to 2-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in TCCC action. Endicott dips to 0-2-1 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play.
Pat Gaumond (Holden, Mass.) scored the lone goal in the first half, giving the Bison a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute. He received a pass from Mark Capitanio (Mansfield, Mass.) in the right side of the box and then maneuvered past two defenders before placing his shot high in the left corner past Endicott keeper Daniel Higgins.
Coderre's tallies came just over five minutes apart late in the game, the first on a through ball from Gaumond right up the middle of the box. Coderre finished it off in the 84th minute for a 2-0 lead. Mike Schell (South Windsor, Conn.) broke the ball through to Coderre in the 89th minute for the second marker, and this time Higgins got a hand on the shot, but the ball rolled inside the left corner for a 3-0 advantage.
Nichols keeper Brendan Hamilton (North Attleboro, Mass.) made seven saves in his second consecutive shutout. Higgins finished with three stops.
Nichols is back in action on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. non-conference game at Becker. Endicott takes a break from conference action to host Tufts Tuesday evening at at 6 p.m.
