Box Score BIDDEFORD, Maine (April 24) -- First-year Cara Cole and senior Mallory Long combined for eight goals as the University of New England defeated Nichols College, 14-4, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference women's lacrosse action Friday evening at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
The Nor'easters conclude the regular season at 11-4 overall (9-2 TCCC), and will host a quarterfinal match in the conference tournament which begins next Saturday (May 1). Their seed and opponent are yet to be determined. The Bison dip to 2-9 overall and 2-7 in TCCC action with two regular-season games remaining on their slate.
Cole notched a season-high five goals, while Long finished with three markers and two assists. Senior Kim Bilodeau dished out four helpers to go with a goal, and classmate Dani Wood had a goal and two assists. Junior Danielle Cate added a pair of scores.
Junior Tara Geraghty and first-year Jillian Aslin split time in goal for UNE, recording one and three saves, respectively.
A Cole from Bilodeau goal 48 seconds into the contest got the Nor'easters started, and the hosts led 12-2 at the break.
Sophomore Jessy Dvorak collected a game-high five draw controls for UNE, which out-shot Nichols by a 27-12 margin.
The Bison (4-9, 2-7 TCCC) travel to Colby-Sawyer College Monday for a league match beginning at 4 p.m.

Nichols received two goals from sophomore Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, Mass.), and one each from classmates Brittany Tremont (Guilford, Conn.) and sophomore Alexa Boucher (West Springfield, Mass.).
Bison sophomore goalkeeper Mary Michaud (Agawam, Mass.) made 10 saves, in addition to tallying seven ground balls and five caused turnovers -- both game-highs.
