Balanced Attack Leads Men's Lax Past Regis, 20-4

WESTON, Mass. (March 27) – Led by a balanced attack, the Nichols College men's lacrosse team won its first The Commonwealth Coast Conference game Saturday afternoon,  handing Regis College a 20-4 defeat. The Bison improve to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in TCCC action, while the Pride still search for their first win on the year at an 0-3 overall and conference mark. Bison teammates Austin Healy (Westford, Mass.) and Matthew Caulfield (Fairfield, Conn.) each had four goals for Nichols, with Caulfield adding a pair of assists.

Steve Delahanty (Auburn, N.H.) and Ryan Pacific (Danbury, Conn.) each scored three goals, with Pacific picking up a pair of assists.

Bradford Hastings had three goals for Regis.
 
Nichols controlled much of the game offensively, peppering Regis College keeper Andrew LaMacchia with 31 shots and winning all but 12 faceoffs.

The Bison held a 4-0 lead late in the opening quarter, but a Regis goal with just 11 seconds left in the stanza got the Pride on the board before the break. Nichols responded with three more in the second, but again, Regis struck with just seconds left on the clock to make it 7-2 in favor of the Bison at the half.

Nichols broke the game wide open in the third quarter with eight goals for a 15-2 advantage headed into the final frame. Hastings found the net twice in the fourth, but Nichols tallied five more times during the final 15 minutes for the 20-4 final.
 
Bison keeper Scott Gray (Annapolis, Md.) earned the win with nine saves in the opening 43 minutes before giving way to Shahar Shatzberger (Peabody, Mass.), who stopped four shots in the remainder of the game.
  
The Bison collected 47 ground balls. Regis had a slight advantage, snagging 50 ground balls in the game.
 
Nichols is back in action against New England College on March 30th in a game played at Southern New Hampshire University.
