Box Score COCOA, Fla. (March 17) – The Nichols College baseball team fell to Salisbury University, 12-2, at the Cocoa Expo Wednesday morning. Josh Clark (Brunswick, Maine) and George Sergi (Blackstone, Mass.) scored single runs for the Bison in the third and eighth innings. Nichols will face the Gulls again on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
Tim Smith (Planfield, Conn.) allowed two earned runs on seven hits while striking out one in five innings before Cameron Leduc (Burrillville, R.I.) and AJ Vadala (North Attleboro, Mass.) combined for six runs allowed to finish out the game.
Salisbury took advantage of seven Bison errors in the game to plate 12 runs, starting with a pair of scores in the first inning. An RBI double from Andrew Miller in the second sent another run across before the Gulls scored two unearned runs in the third and one in the fourth on a Tim Kellinger home run.
The Gulls tagged Leduc for three hits and three unearned runs in the sixth before Vadala came in to send them down in order in the seventh. Salisbury rallied for four hits and three runs off Vadala in the eighth, scoring two on an RBI double from Brian Green.
Dustin Herbert earned the win in six innings with five hits, one run and six strikeouts.
