Box Score

DUDLEY, Mass. (Oct. 16) – Nichols College junior goalkeeper Brendan Hamilton (North Attleboro, Mass.) made five saves to shut out visiting Colby-Sawyer College, 3-0, in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference game at Michael J. Vendetti Field Saturday evening. With the clean sheet, Hamilton earned his 15th career shutout to break the Nichols College career shutouts record. It was his eighth of the season, also besting his own previous single-season record. Nichols improves to 11-2-1 overall and takes back a piece of first place in the TCCC with an 8-1-1 conference record. Colby-Sawyer dips to 6-7-1 overall and 5-3-1 in conference games.

Mark Capitanio (Mansfield, Mass.) scored two goals for the Bison and Scott Coderre (Thompson, Conn.) added his team-leading 10th of the season and an assist.

Capitanio carried a through ball from Coderre and drew out Chargers' keeper Will Berry before firing across the box and into the right corner for an early 1-0 lead in just the third minute of the game.

Coderre followed up by collecting a long pass and heading it over a defender before cutting back and firing inside the left post for a 2-0 lead in the 19th minute.

Dan Smith (Verona, N.J.) was awarded a penalty kick in the 41st minute, but was thwarted by Berry on a diving stop. Smith sprinted in for the rebound, but his shot sailed high over the net. Berry finished with five saves in the game.

Capitanio capped the scoring in the 58th minute with some fancy footwork past two Chargers defenders in the box before placing his shot past Berry.

Nichols is back in action on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. TCCC game at Wentworth. Colby-Sawyer hosts Endicott Sunday at 3 p.m. for a conference matchup.
