Box Score LONGMEADOW, Mass. (Sept. 17) – First-year forward Samantha Abro (Northborough, Mass.) scored four goals to lead the Nichols College women's soccer team to an 8-2 victory at Bay Path College Thursday afternoon. Nichols improves to 2-3 overall and travels to Curry on Saturday for a TCCC game.
Senior Lindsey Barbo (Natick, Mass.) scored less than eight minutes into the game off a shot from the left side of the box. Bay Path tied it up in the 22nd minute when Jacqui Siddle collected a misplay by a Nichols defender and scored from 30 yards out.
Sophomore Kaitlyn DiBuono (Auburn, Mass.) connected with Abro for the Bison's next three scores, as the rookie netted the first pair less than four minutes apart before heading in the hat trick with a minute left before halftime.
Holly Ventura (Hudson, Mass.) finished a cross from Chelsea Shaughnessy (Halifax, Mass.) in the 53rd minute for a 5-1 lead, and then fed Abro with a corner kick for her final tally of the day.
Jacqui Siddle netted a pass from Sandra Caldas in the 67th minute but the Bison's Erica Silvia (Middletown, Conn.) placed a high shot in the back of the net, with the assist going to Jessica Brasil (Methuen, Mass.) in the 74th minute. Nichols goalkeeper Nicole Johnson (Westhampton, Mass.), who had come out in the 70th minute then capped the scoring with her first goal of the season from Kelly Gilbert (Blackstone, Mass.).
Johnson didn't face any shots before giving way to Andrea D'Antuono (W. Greenwich, R.I.) with 20 minutes left. Samantha Gunseth made 20 stops for Bay Path, which was outshot 43-5 on the day.
