BROOKLINE, Mass. (Sept 17) -- The Nichols College men's soccer team defeated Newbury College on the road, 3-1, Thursday afternoon. After the Nighthawks jumped out to the early 1-0 lead four minutes into the contest, the Bison countered with three unanswered goals for a 3-1 victory.

Sophomore Andy Osei rebounded a shot-on-goal from freshman Hector Adudoj to put the Nighthawks on the board first. But the Bison replied with a goal of their own from sophomore David Johnson (Canterbury, Conn.) 13 minutes later to knot up the score at one each, where it stood at the half.

Nichols junior Mark Capitanio (Mansfield, Mass.) found the back of the net, off a free kick, midway through the second half to give the Bison the 2-1 advantage. They would add to their lead 16 minutes later when junior Michael Schell (South Windsor, Conn.) scored on a pass from fellow junior Ryan Wytrych (Feeding Hills, Mass.).

With the loss, the Nighthawks fall to 0-4 on the season while the Bison improve to 4-1. Nichols returns to TCCC action on Saturday at Curry. Newbury will return to the pitch next Tuesday, September 22 when they host Rivier College at 3:30pm.
