BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Junior striker Ali Trafton scored at the 78:34 mark to lift the University of New England Nor'easters to a 1-0 shutout of the Nichols College Bison in The Commonwealth Coast Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Sarah Levesque (Ludlow, Mass.) made seven stops for Nichols.

The Nor'easters improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Bison fall to 2-3 overall, 0-2 in TCCC games.

UNE held a significant advantage in shots (19-8) for the match but were unable to put the ball into the back of the net until the 79th minute when sophomore midfielder Michelle Epstein crossed the ball from the left flank to find a wide open Trafton, who pushed a shot into the right side of the goal from five yards out.

Junior netminder Leigh Engel came up with five saves to record her first shutout of the season for UNE.

The Nor'easters return to action Tuesday when they host Colby-Sawyer College for a league game starting at 3:30 p.m.  The Bison host Newbury College Monday at 4:00 p.m.
