Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. — The Nichols College men's soccer team came back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Daniel Webster College, 3-2, Thursday afternoon at Vendetti Field. Sophomore Mark Capitanio (Mansfield, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal with just over one minute left in the game after senior Aaron Kelly (Dover Plains, N.Y.) tied it up on a penalty kick less than three minutes earlier.
Capitanio scored his second game-winner of the season on a free kick from 32 yards out, placing the ball in the lower right corner past the Eagles' wall of defenders. A collision in the 18-yard box set up Kelly's penalty kick which sailed into the net to tie the game in the 86th minute.
Sophomore Ryan Wytrych (Feeding Hills, Mass.) put Nichols on the board with a header off a cross by Giulian Correia (Lakeville, Mass.) at in the 71st minute.
The Eagles led by one at the half, when Alex Jackson picked up a crossed ball that deflected off a Nichols defender right to his feet, and slipped it past Nichols netminder Brendan Hamilton (North Attleboro, Mass.) in the 31st minute.
Daniel Webster's lead grew to 2-0 early in the second half on a goal by freshman Nicholas Klesh, who retrieved a deflected ball, then scored with a shot to the upper right corner.
Hamilton finished with two saves in his third win of the season, while Joe Keene stopped seven shots in the loss.
Nichols (3-1) opens The Commonwealth Coast Conference play at Gordon College Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Daniel Webster (0-2) hosts St. Joseph's (Maine) on Thursday, September 18, at 4 p.m.
