Box Score BEVERLY, Mass. - Sophomore Allison Forgues scored a pair of second half goals as Endicott College stayed unbeaten in the TCCC with a 3-1 win over visiting Nichols College on Homecoming Weekend in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls are now 14-3 overall and 7-0 in conference play, while the Bison suffer their first TCCC loss and slip to 8-7 (4-1).
Nichols' MaryKate Frodema (Springfield, Mass.) capitalized on an Endicott turnover just 10:13 into the contest as she netted the Bison to an early 1-0 lead. After Nichols controlled much of the first half, Endicott began to find a rhythm with consecutive corner opportunities. The Gulls finally broke through at 25:06 as Forgues notched her first of the day off a feed from Alexandra Parese, slipping a shot past several defending sticks into the back of the Bison goal. The two teams would enter the intermission gridlocked at 1-1.
In the second, Endicott broke the tie at 48:49 off a crucial corner shot. Moving the ball into play from the sideline, sophomore Joanne Reid received a pass from Jennifer Beech and moved horizontally across the field and blasted a shot from the right side into the back of the goal.
With the pressure now on Nichols, the Bison struggled to generate any offensive opportunities and elected to call a timeout with seven minutes left in regulation. Subbing back into the game just moments before the timeout, Allison Forgues scored her second of the game off yet another pass from Parese.
Junior MaryKate Bednarz (Springfield, Mass.) made five saves in net for the Bison, while Chelsea DeFeo stopped two in the winning effort.
Nichols travels to New England College on Wednesday, October 22, before returning home on Saturday, October 25, to host Gordon at 10 a.m. for senior day.
