Shelby Masse begins her 10th season as an assistant coach with the Nichols College women’s soccer program in 2026.
She also serves as a faculty member in the College’s Sport Management department.
Since joining the staff in 2017, Masse has helped guide steady growth within the program, including a standout 2019 season in which the Bison recorded their highest win total in nearly a decade with 10 victories. That year also featured seven shutouts—the second-most in program historyand a seven-match winning streak, the third-longest in program history, while three student-athletes earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Academic All-Conference recognition.
A 2013 graduate of the University of Hartford, Masse was a three-year member of the women’s soccer program. She also competed at the semi-professional level with CFC Passion (2009) and the SoccerPlus CT Reds of the WPSL (2010-12), serving as a starting goalkeeper for three seasons.
On the coaching side, Masse brings extensive experience in player development and goalkeeper training, including work with Connecticut ODP - where she currently serves as head coach for the U17 Girls program following two East Region Finalist appearances - and previous roles across multiple youth and club programs, including Star Goalkeeper Academy, Sporting FC, Dutch Football Academy, and Northeast United.
Masse holds a Goalkeeper Level 1 Certification along with USSF National D and E Licenses. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English (2013), a Bachelor of Arts in History (2015), and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction: Secondary Education (2017), all from the University of Connecticut, where she also completed her Ph.D. in Learning, Leadership, and Education Policy with a focus in Sport Management.
