Mariah Vasquez

Mariah Vasquez begins her fourth season as the inaugural head coach of the varsity cheerleading program in 2024-25. The cheerleading program will consist of three squads this year: Sideline Team, Gameday Competition Team, and a competitive COED Team.

Throughout her various seasons in Dudley, the Bison have made numerous appearances at the The Cheerleading Worlds as well as local, regional, and state competitions to help grow and promote the program. Vasquez increased the online presence of the program to help attract future Bison, which included a sizeable a recruiting class of 24 individuals for the 2022-23 campaign.

In addition to holding clinics and a practice with the former cheerleading choreographer of the Boston Celtics, the Bison also practiced with the University of Rhode Island cheer team, which competes at the Division I level. Vasquez also helped organize the inaugural mini Bison cheer clinic and camp.

Vasquez comes to Nichols from Medford High School, where she served as the cheerleading coach during the 2018-19 season. She guided the Mustangs to a Grand Championship in a competition in West Springfield and a second-place finish at the Greater Boston League (GBL) in 2019. The Mustangs later advanced to the second round of the Massachusetts School Administrators Association (MSAA) Regionals and just missed qualifying for the state championship. The Grand Championship was the first co-ed title for Medford in school history.

Vasquez – who was a student-athlete at nearby UMass Boston and has also coached high school basketball – possesses a degree in Social Psychology.
