Katie Costa begins her first season as an assistant coach with the Nichols College softball program in 2026-27.
Costa brings more than a decade of coaching experience at the travel, high school, and collegiate levels. She began coaching travel softball in 2015 before joining the coaching staff at Cranston West High School in 2017. During her two seasons with the Falcons, she helped guide the junior varsity program to the 2018 Rhode Island Interscholastic League State Championship.
In the fall of 2018, Costa entered the collegiate coaching ranks as an assistant coach at Rhode Island College under Brian Claypool. She later spent the 2022 season at Wheaton College before joining the coaching staff at Bridgewater State University for the 2023 and 2024 campaigns. During her first season with the Bears, the program advanced to the MASCAC Championship and finished as conference runner-up. In 2024, she served as Co-Head Coach, helping lead all aspects of the program while continuing to emphasize player development and team culture.
For the 2025 season, Costa joined the Division I staff at Bryant University, where the Bulldogs finished as America East Conference Championship finalists after advancing to the conference title game. She returned to work alongside Claypool in 2026 at Anna Maria College, helping build a competitive culture and continue the program's offensive development before following him to Nichols College for the 2026-27 season.
Throughout her coaching career, Costa has been committed to developing fundamentally sound student-athletes while fostering a culture built on accountability, work ethic, and personal growth. In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, she remains active in the travel softball community, where she has coached and mentored athletes aspiring to compete at the collegiate level.
Costa earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University. She also holds an Associate in Arts in Graphic Multimedia, Web Development, and Photography from New England Institute of Technology.
